Yukon College to Offer Survey Technician Program
WHITEHORSE – Yukon College will design and deliver a Survey Technician Program thanks to a $72,000 grant from Advanced Education’s Community Training Fund.
“The Survey Technician Program is a targeted initiative that will provide Yukoners with the knowledge and skills they need to find a job as a survey technician,” Education Minister Patrick Rouble said. “It’s another example of preparing Yukoners for Yukon opportunities. The Yukon government is supporting both the workers and Yukon businesses while promoting a strong, diversified economy.”
“Yukon College is pleased to continue to develop community partnerships while addressing the education and training needs of Yukon businesses and governments,” Terry Weninger, President of Yukon College said.
The Survey Technician Program was initiated by the Advanced Education branch in direct response to the needs of the industry sector. The object of the program is to teach students the surveying skills they need to become employable after completing the program. Over 35 weeks, students will take 10 courses to help them develop effective on-the-job safety skills, drafting, math, and computer skills.
Registration has already begun and the course is filling quickly. Courses begin September 8.
