Agreement with YTA not yet reached
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon government and the Yukon Teachers’ Association met for mediation talks on January 11 and 12, but were unable to conclude a negotiated collective agreement. The parties were assisted in their efforts by Alberta mediator Archie Zariski, who will report to the Yukon Teachers’ Labour Relations Board chair. The parties will not publicly release mediation details.
The next step is for the Yukon Teachers’ Association to select either binding arbitration or non-binding conciliation to resolve the bargaining dispute. The bargaining parties look forward to the assistance of the Labour Relations Board in furthering the process to renew their collective agreement.
