WHITEHORSE – The Government of Yukon is launching a new online resource for those interested in obtaining detailed information on Yukon’s onshore oil and gas wells, Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Brad Cathers announced today.
“The Yukon Online Well Information (YOWI) webpage supports government’s efforts to increase investment in Yukon’s oil and gas sector,” Cathers said. “Providing detailed information on Yukon’s past and present wells allows industry to better assess our resources, leading to greater potential for Yukoners to benefit from oil and gas development.”
YOWI provides users with an interactive map of Yukon showing all sedimentary basins, onshore oil and gas wells and existing oil and gas dispositions. Users can find basic well information such as geographic location and more detailed records such as applications and well histories. YOWI can be found at www.yukonoilandgas.com through the Maps and Data page.
“Through this webpage, industry and Yukoners interested in oil and gas activity can access government records to learn more about our resources and management of them,” Cathers added.
The webpage currently holds over 800 records on Yukon wells including applications, inspections, reports and logs and is updated as material becomes digitally available.
