Funding for New Secondary School
WHITEHORSE – Education Minister Patrick Rouble announced that $400,000 has been set aside, subject to legislative approval, toward the planning, and architectural design for the replacement of F.H. Collins Secondary School.
“Our government is committed to meeting the educational needs of Yukon students today and for the future. We are excited about launching this significant project,” Rouble said.
A building advisory committee will be established to ensure that the community and educational stakeholders are involved in the project. The committee will be an essential tool in engaging community involvement and ensuring the objectives of the Secondary School Programming Review Final Report are met. The committee will be active participants in the planning and design of the school.
F. H. Collins Secondary School opened its doors in 1963 and has seen 6,000 students graduate. It is one of four Whitehorse high schools, including the Individual Learning Centre and the Wood Street Centre, and is home to almost 600 students.
