WHITEHORSE – As part of its ongoing commitment to staff training, Yukon government is investing an additional $300,000 into Yukon College training programs, Education Minister Patrick Rouble announced.
The Oil Burner Technician program is being developed in response to community needs identified by Yukon Housing Corporation and the Energy Solutions Centre. The Housing Maintainer program will provide additional capacity for housing authorities to maintain buildings for their clients.
“We will continue to invest in initiatives that prepare Yukoners for Yukon opportunities,” Rouble said. “I look forward to having more skilled tradespeople trained in Yukon to work in Yukon.”
Pilot courses in both programs are expected to start in the summer of 2009.
