Yukon Producers Celebrate 21st Annual North of 60° Agriculture Conference and Banquet

WHITEHORSE – Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Brad Cathers invites the public to the North of 60° Agriculture Conference and Banquet.

“The Government of Yukon supports the continued growth and development of agriculture in the North,” Cathers said. “The annual conference provides a venue for producers, experts and the public to come together and learn about farming in Yukon.”

Guest speakers at this year’s conference, which takes place today, October 31 and November 1, will explore a variety of subjects including over-wintering techniques, horse dentistry, organic and non-organic fertilizing approaches, and strategies to reduce energy requirements and cut farm energy costs.

The “Yukon-Grown” banquet Saturday evening features locally grown food and local entertainment. The Farmer/Farm Family of the Year will also be announced at the banquet.

“The Yukon-grown banquet is an enjoyable way to support Yukon’s agricultural producers and celebrate the increasing variety of Yukon-grown meat, vegetables and other products grown close to home,” Cathers added.
