EMR Library Supports Yukon’s Resource Sector

WHITEHORSE – The Energy, Mines and Resources (EMR) Library offers the widest range of natural resources information of any facility in Yukon, providing vital support to Yukon’s natural resource industries.

“The EMR Library is home to a valuable collection of research materials related to agriculture, energy, forestry, land use, mining and geology, oil and gas and more,” Brad Cathers, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, said.

The EMR Library provides Yukoners with access to extensive natural resource information, including over 100,000 aerial photographs covering most of Yukon, topographic and geology maps, print and electronic journals, and over 30,000 books and reports.

“The information in the EMR Library helps the prospectors, researchers, consultants and entrepreneurs who form the backbone of Yukon’s resource sector to do their jobs,” Cathers added.

EMR Library staff are available to assist with natural resources research in a wide variety of resource related subjects.

The EMR Library is holding its annual open house from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 at Suite 335, 300 Main Street (Elijah Smith Building) in Whitehorse. The public, media and employees of Yukon and all governments are cordially invited to drop by the library to explore its wealth of information, enjoy refreshments and to meet the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
