WHITEHORSE - Minister responsible for the French Language Services Directorate Glenn Hart is pleased to announce a new partnership between Government of Yukon and l'Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) to provide French language training to Yukoners.
The partnership will see the Service d'orientation et de formation des adultes (SOFA), which is the adult education branch of AFY, offer beginner level French training for Government of Yukon employees and the general public from September to December 2008.
"We are happy to have formed this partnership with AFY and its adult education sector, SOFA," Hart said. "This pilot project contributes to the economic development of the francophone community and will provide a necessary service to the employees of Government of Yukon as well as the general public."
"This partnership is significant because it sends a strong message that SOFA has developed expertise in providing adult education in French, and can now assist the Yukon government to continue offering high quality French language training to its employees," Director of SOFA Isabelle Salesse said.
