Robert Campbell Highway Reconstruction Underway
WHITEHORSE – Highways and Public Works Minister Archie Lang is pleased to announce that construction work to improve and upgrade the southern Robert Campbell Highway has begun.
“The Robert Campbell Highway is being upgraded as an important component of our transportation system,” Lang said. “Our ability to promote viable and sustainable economies depends on the development and maintenance of northern transportation systems that improve access within Yukon.”
Three contracts have been awarded for construction projects at three locations in the Watson Lake and Tuchitua areas. J.E. Sellors Contracting commenced work between kilometre 11 and 18, near the Watson Lake Airport. Work for the other two highway sections, kilometre 35 to 37 by 16142 Yukon Ltd. and kilometre 107 to 113 by Kledo Construction, is also in progress.
A contract with Yukon Engineering Services for field survey and design work is underway between kilometre 55 and the Nahanni Range Road at kilometre 107.
Summit Aggregates of Whitehorse has been awarded a contract for crushing gravel at kilometre 20.
