Yukon Permanent Art Collection New Acquisitions Exhibit
WHITEHORSE – Thirteen new works chosen for the Yukon Permanent Art Collection will be exhibited at the Old Fire Hall, Minister of Tourism and Culture Elaine Taylor announced.
“The new acquisitions reflect the diversity of approaches to contemporary art in Yukon and represent both senior and young emerging artists,” Taylor said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Yukon residents and visitors to view these excellent works.”
In response to the Friends of the Gallery Society’s call for submissions to the collection last December, 71 artists submitted 184 works in a wide range of media, from paintings to carvings to multi-media installations.
“The Friends of the Gallery are very pleased with the response to the call for submissions,” Friends of the Gallery Society Chair Elizabeth Hanson said. “We hope that future calls will continue to attract artists from all Yukon communities.”
