Government Supports Yukoners' Efforts to Reduce Energy Costs
To help territorial residents combat rising fuel prices, the Government of Yukon is supporting Yukoners’ efforts to reduce their energy costs.
Backed by the Energy Solutions Centre and the Yukon Housing Corporation, the government is launching an information campaign that provides energy savings tips and program information which can help Yukoners save money.
“Costs such as heating fuel have risen steadily over the past year,” said Archie Lang, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources. “There are a number of government programs, tips and advice available that help give Yukoners real options for saving on fuel costs.”
The Energy Solution Centre delivers energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives across the Yukon and distributes information on energy efficiency and renewable energy technology.
“The best way for Yukoners to lower their fuel costs is by getting more out of the fuel they purchase,” said Jim Kenyon, Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation. “I support the efforts of Yukoners to increase the efficiency of their homes and businesses.”
The Yukon Housing Corporation provides technical and financial advice and delivers interest-free loan programs for energy efficiency repairs or improvements for homes and rental properties. It also provides grants and incentives for new home construction and existing home upgrades.
