National Public Service Week Celebrated

WHITEHORSE – Yukon government employees are celebrating National Public Service Week throughout the territory June 15–21.

Since 2005, public servants in Yukon have come together to share in the pride of public service and a commitment to improving the quality of life for Yukoners.

“Our employees truly are our greatest resource,” said Minister for the Public Service Commission Glenn Hart. “The government looks forward to this annual opportunity to recognize the contributions that public servants make to our community every day.”

Events are being held in seven Yukon communities including Faro, Ross River, Carcross, Beaver Creek, Teslin, Mayo and Whitehorse.

A public display called “Evolution of life in a public service cubicle” will be on show in the Government of Yukon’s Main Administration Building foyer in Whitehorse during the week, along with entries for an employee photo contest illustrating public servants at work all over Yukon.

Launched in 1992, National Public Service Week began as a federal initiative to celebrate the contributions of public service employees. The third week of June has been established to highlight the importance of these contributions.
