WHITEHORSE - The Transportation Maintenance Branch has attained its Certificate of Recognition (COR), Highways and Public Works Minister Archie Lang announced today. Certification was received following the branch's most recent external audit, conducted by Zral Safety Services of Whitehorse.
"This safety program exceeds all requirements of the nationally recognized safety standard and I have every confidence the branch will continue to be a leader in workplace safety," Lang said. "I extend congratulations to all Transportation Maintenance Branch employees on this achievement."
The Certificate of Recognition occupational health and safety program is designed to assist employers in the development and maintenance of company-wide safety. It incorporates standardized training and assists companies in monitoring their safety programs through annual audits.
The program is locally administered by Northern Safety Network Yukon.
At the height of its busy season, the branch has approximately 290 employees engaged in some of the most high risk occupations within Yukon government. Safety and training are top priorities, resulting in a healthy work environment.
