Yukon Government’s CDF Support Reaches Across Yukon
WHITEHORSE - Economic Development Minister Jim Kenyon has awarded $231,915 from the Community Development Fund (CDF) to organizations across Yukon.
The money will be divided among 18 successful applicants and is coming from the CDF's Tier 1 level of funding, which allocates up to $20,000 per request. Tier 2 funding covers requests between $20,001 and $75,000, and Tier 3 funding supports requests above $75,000.
"CDF funding is one of the many ways the Yukon government assists community-based projects," Kenyon said. "Excellent work is being done on projects to make communities better places to live. The CDF is available throughout Yukon and supports a diverse range of organizations and community groups."
Dawson City's Community Development and Planning Office was among the 18 successful applicants and received $20,000 to develop a plan for developing and managing trail infrastructure within the municipality.
"Recreational trail development is integral to a healthy, sustainable recreation strategy for the community and to expanded economic opportunities for the tourism industry," Mark Wickham, Community Development and Planning Officer in Dawson, said. "This is a significant investment in Dawson's quality of life as the trails we're planning will be accessed by residents and visitors alike."
