The 35th Annual Geoscience Forum and Mineral Exploration Trade Show

WHITEHORSE - The annual Yukon Geoscience Forum and Mineral Exploration Trade Show will kick off Monday at the High Country Inn and Yukon Convention Centre in Whitehorse. This four day event features the latest in technology, exploration, reclamation and research in the Yukon’s mining and oil and gas industries.

“The Yukon government is a strong supporter of this event, which brings together industry professionals from across Canada to share research and information on geoscience and mining projects in Yukon,” Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Archie Lang said.

“A greater understanding of Yukon’s geology and our natural resource potential is vital to the sustainable development of our non-renewable natural resources,” Lang added. “The exchange of knowledge is key for successful development, balanced land use planning and wise stewardship of our resources.”

The Mineral Exploration Trade Show provides an opportunity for the public to meet representatives from Yukon exploration, mining and service companies. In addition, representatives from the Yukon Chamber of Mines, the Yukon Mine Training Association, the Yukon Geological Survey and other branches of Energy, Mines and Resources will be available to answer questions.

Also available at the trade show will be information on Energy, Mines and Resources and Yukon Geological Survey publications and projects including the new Guide to Hard Rock Prospecting, Exploration and Mining In Yukon.

“We are pleased to host such an important and popular event for the mining industry. This is an exciting time to be working in this industry,” Yukon Chamber of Mines President John Witham said. “We expect interest and activity in Yukon mineral resources to continue growing as demand for natural resources increases and market prices remain strong.”

Over 300 delegates from across Canada are registered for the forum hosted by the Yukon Chamber of Mines. Delegates include geologists, scientists, academics, investors, prospectors and placer miners, as well as representatives of service and supply companies, government, mining, and oil and gas companies.
