Yukon Welcomes 250th Condor Flight
WHITEHORSE - Tourism and Culture Minister Elaine Taylor is pleased to announce that Yukon welcomed the 250th direct flight by Condor Flugdienst (Air Service) from Frankfurt on May 22.
"Direct air service between Europe and Yukon supports several key tourism sectors and continues to influence our tourism economy and investment," Minister Taylor stated. "The Condor flights provide a direct link to the important European market of Germany."
Condor's Yukon flights are shared with Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. An increase to 47 flights in 2007 on this route from 37 in 2006 means 27 per cent more visitors to the North from Germany on Condor’s flights. Yukon's Department of Tourism is working with industry, other government departments, Condor, and German tour companies to ensure product availability and awareness of the flight in Europe.
"Convenient, affordable air service to Yukon is essential to stimulate market growth," Taylor said. "Condor's commitment of continued and increased service will be matched by this government's commitment to improve services for travellers at the Whitehorse Airport."
On May 8th, Condor began its sixth season of Yukon operations and will continue its 2007 operations until October 30th.
