Medevac Service Celebrates 10 Years With Yukon government
WHITEHORSE – A special pin has been designed and presented to each member of the Yukon Emergency Medical Services' medevac unit in recognition of the unit's 10 years with the government.
"I would like to recognize the 10 years that these fine men and women have been part of the Yukon government's emergency medical services branch," Health and Social Services Minister Brad Cathers said. "It is fitting that this 10th anniversary takes place on Critical Care Transport Day that celebrates flight nurses throughout North America."
Emergency Medical Services' celebrated Critical Care Transport Day on Monday, Feb. 19.
Acting Medevac manager Steve Hahn says his unit works very closely with the two other branches of Emergency Medical Services, Whitehorse Ambulance Services and the Rural Emergency Medical Services.
"We are all part of a team working together cohesively to provide the best transport medical care to all Yukon residents. We strive to ensure that our patients receive the same level and quality of care that anyone in a larger centre would expect from their emergency medical services," Hahn said.
Yukon has six flight nurses and six primary care paramedics who fly missions within Yukon, and to other medical centres in Western Canada.
