Yukon Government To Assist Yukon College In Pension Shortfall
WHITEHORSE – The Government of Yukon today has announced that it will be contributing funds to assist Yukon College in its pension shortfall.
Through a contribution agreement, the Government of Yukon will be providing Yukon College with $1,251,600 per year, for five years, beginning in the 2006-07 fiscal year.
“The Government of Yukon is pleased to announce that a multi-year contribution agreement with Yukon College is currently being penned in order to alleviate Yukon College’s pension shortfall,” Premier Dennis Fentie said. “We are making this significant contribution to Yukon College because we want to support the important work that they do in providing Yukoners with post-secondary education opportunities.”
The first installment of funds available under the multi-year contribution agreement will be available to Yukon College this April. Further installments will be available pending annual actuarial reviews.
