U.S. Ambassador And Premier Discuss Joint Initiatives

WHITEHORSE – The Alaska Highway Pipeline, the Yukon/Alaska Rail Link, softwood lumber and border issues are being addressed by United States Ambassador, His Excellency David Wilkins, and Premier Dennis Fentie today.

"By working together on both sides of the border, we can get much further in ensuring that both Canadians and Americans are able to take advantage of the opportunities and benefits that will come with our joint initiatives," Fentie said.

"Ongoing cross-border initiatives here are proof positive that Americans and Canadians everywhere remain committed to one another, our shared opportunities and interests far outweighing any differences," Wilkins said.

Wilkins and Fentie met this morning as part of the visit of the congressional delegation stopping in Whitehorse on its way to Barrow, Alaska to examine the effects of climate change on the North.
