Premier Fentie Offers Condolences For His Holiness Pope John Paul II

WHITEHORSE – Premier Dennis Fentie today offered condolences on the death of His Holiness Pope John Paul II.

"On behalf of the Yukon government and the Yukon people, I wish to express our deep sadness at the passing of a great spiritual leader," Fentie said.

"His Holiness Pope John Paul II will forever be remembered as an advocate for peace and understanding. He left a dramatic imprint on the world during his 26 year tenure."

A book of condolences will be placed in the lobby of the main administration building in Whitehorse until April 29. For people in the communities, pages from the book will be available at public libraries. When completed, the book will be sent to the Vatican.
