Government Supports Cultural Projects Through Arts Fund

WHITEHORSE - The Arts Fund is contributing $121,630 to 16 projects that support and promote artistic endeavours for artists of all ages, Tourism and Culture Minister Elaine Taylor announced today.

"These projects reveal the astonishing array of arts activities that take place on a daily basis throughout Yukon communities," Taylor said.

The Arts Fund is for projects that address the creative development of the arts in the Yukon. Applications are reviewed at arms-length from government by the Yukon Arts Advisory Council.

The council adjudicated 21 applications requesting more than $245,000 in funding for the December 2004 intake.

The next deadline for applications is March 15. Applicants are asked to consult with the program officer before applying.
