The forecast calls for hot pancakes and warm, syrupy feelings at the United Way Yukon Breakfast this Friday

The Government of Yukon is proud to once again organize the annual United Way Breakfast, which marks the start of October’s United Way Month fundraising events. The event will be taking place from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Yukon Convention Centre this Friday.

This year’s theme, Pulling Together, recognizes the work of the United Way contributors in Yukon, as well as the volunteers and recipients. All proceeds from the breakfast support Yukon charities and community organizations through the United Way.

  • The Government of Yukon has organized the breakfast for over 20 years. In addition to sponsorship, it provides staff volunteers to run the United Way Breakfast in partnership with local businesses and other sponsors, including the Coast High Country Inn, CBC Yukon, and G-P Distributing Inc.
  • The Government of Yukon’s departments of Energy, Mines and Resources and Economic Development are the lead organizers for the 2017 breakfast.
  • Last year’s (2016) United Way Breakfast raised a record-breaking $29,957 for Yukon charities and community groups through ticket sales and generous contributions to the silent auction.
  • Since 1994, the United Way Yukon has raised more than $2 million to assist local charities through a variety of fundraising activities. United Way Yukon’s mission is to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
