Government of Yukon hosting poverty reduction and housing forum

The Government of Yukon is hosting a poverty reduction and housing forum called Expanding the Connection: Poverty and Housing on July 12 in Whitehorse.

The public forum will bring together community champions and government and non-government officials in an attempt to broaden understanding of the connection between housing and poverty.

On the evening before the forum, the public is welcome to attend a documentary film on homelessness in southern Alberta called Where is Home? at the Beringia Centre. After the film there will be an opportunity to hear from the filmmaker Dan Berdusco.

The event is an initiative of the Government of Yukon’s Housing Corporation and Department of Health and Social Services.

“We need to build a stronger understanding of the connections between access to safe, affordable housing and poverty. This forum will provide an opportunity for the community to explore these connections and learn about innovative local projects.”

–Minister of Health and Social Services and Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation Pauline Frost
