Government of Yukon extends funding to the Yukon Imagination Library

The Government of Yukon will continue to fund the Yukon Reads Society with $50,000 a year for each of the next three years to support the Yukon Imagination Library.

The Yukon Imagination Library is a volunteer-run, local non-profit organization that promotes early childhood literacy. The program mails a free age-appropriate book each month to all children enrolled. Yukon children from birth to age five can enroll at any time.

Quotes

“I congratulate the Yukon Imagination Library on ten years of promoting early childhood development. Reading with young children contributes to healthy development, builds stronger family relationships and can help encourage a love of reading from an early age. Providing the program with this grant will help them continue their important work, and is part of our commitment to maximize benefits for children.”

–Minister of Health and Social Services Pauline Frost

"The Yukon Imagination Library is thrilled to be celebrating our tenth anniversary, and we could not have reached this key milestone without support from individual donors, our community partners, and the Government of Yukon."

–Yukon Reads Society president Claire Derome
