Yukon government supports Ronald McDonald House

Minister of Health and Social Services Pauline Frost presented a cheque for $5,000 on behalf of the Yukon government to support Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon. The presentation took place during the 24th annual McHappy Day in Whitehorse.

Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon provides a home away from home for families whose children have to travel to Vancouver for medical reasons. The house has 73 bedrooms and is located on the grounds of the BC Children’s Hospital. Ronald McDonald House also has four overnight sleeping rooms available at the Surrey Memorial Hospital, enabling parents to stay close to their sick child’s bedside.

“No matter how old you are, if you have to leave the territory to receive medical care, it is important to have a home-like atmosphere and people around them to offer support. The work done through Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver to support Yukon families is vitally important not only to families, but to us as a government. We are happy to be able to play a small part in making the house a success.”

–Minister of Health and Social Services Pauline Frost

“Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon serves as a home away from home for many families from the Yukon, including 12 inspiring families just this past month. The incredible support we receive from McHappy Day helps us continue to deliver financial and emotional relief to families while their child receives treatment in Vancouver.”
