Yukon Premier Sandy Silver travelled to Ottawa this week.
In support of Yukon First Nations, the premier took part in a water ceremony held in advance of the Peel Watershed appeal being heard by the Supreme Court of Canada on Wednesday morning.
He was also there for the tabling of the federal budget and to meet with Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna.
"The Peel Watershed case is very important to Yukoners. I've come to Ottawa to show my support for First Nations as we travel together through this process. Getting the Supreme Court's decision on this matter will give us clarity to move forward with the land use planning process and get the Peel land use plan back on track. Land use planning and modern treaties are part of the way forward for reconciliation in Yukon and right across Canada."
