WHITEHORSE—The Government of Yukon today joins jurisdictions across Canada in recognizing the 40th anniversary of Canada–European Union relations by flying the European Union flag and highlighting the anniversary on social media.
“The Government of Yukon recognizes the close ties between Canada and the European Union and supports the successful conclusion of negotiations for a Canada–Europe trade agreement,” Premier Darrell Pasloski said. “Close ties to Europe help support our local industry, including the tourism sector. Yukon benefits, for example, from a direct link to Europe with seasonal flights from Whitehorse to Frankfurt, Germany.”
2016 marks 40 years since the European Union’s diplomatic presence was established in Ottawa and May 9 is Europe Day in the European Union.
