WHITEHORSE—Yukon is celebrating Education Week from April 25 to 29 with the theme of ‘A Strong Team Builds Bright Futures’.
“Our theme this year highlights the important work of our partners in education, including parents, school councils, First Nations governments, local businesses, community groups and others,” Minister of Education Doug Graham said. “It recognizes their significant contributions to our education system and learning experiences in Yukon, from early to adult learning.”
Events will showcase Yukon school community activities and the many ways our partners in education are supporting learning. Events featured during the week include a Destination Imagination Family Fun Night at the Dusk’a Head Start Family Learning Centre in McIntyre subdivision and a Student Social Justice Conference at Yukon College, where students in Grades 7 to 12 will discuss social justice and mental health.
The Department of Education will also host a booth at the Lake Laberge Lions’ Yukon Trade Show from April 29 to May 1 at the Canada Games Centre. Staff will present on education programs and services and will offer information and demonstrations on educational technology, career and training opportunities, French programs, First Nations art and other education activities.
