Northern premiers to meet to discuss pan-territorial priorities

Joint news release

WHITEHORSE—Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski, Northwest Territories Premier Robert R. McLeod and Nunavut Premier Peter Taptuna will meet April 28 and 29 in Yukon for the Northern Premiers’ Forum.

“The forum is an opportunity for Canada’s territories to work collaboratively on northern issues, including climate change and the economy,” Pasloski said. “I look forward to productive meetings with premiers McLeod and Taptuna as we advance a common vision for a vibrant, prosperous North.”

The premiers will discuss tourism, health care in the North, engagement with the federal government and northern infrastructure. After gathering in Whitehorse, premiers will travel to Dawson and Old Crow to hold their meetings and take part in community events.

“As hosts, we look forward to showcasing Yukon and building connections between northern communities,” Pasloski added.

Northwest Territories Deputy Premier Robert C. McLeod will also attend the forum.
