Kluane First Nation and Yukon government develop Dutch Harbour recreational lots

Joint news release

WHITEHORSE—Eleven new recreational lots at Dutch Harbour will be available through a land lottery later this summer.

“I am pleased to announce that as a result of the excellent working relationship between the Kluane First Nation and the Yukon government, the recreational land development project at Dutch Harbour is moving forward as planned,” Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent said.

Dutch Harbour is located on Kluane Lake between Haines Junction and Destruction Bay. The 11 lots are one-acre, water-access-only lots that have been surveyed by CAP Engineering. Development of the lots was identified as one of the priorities in the 2015 economic development agreement between the Kluane First Nation and Yukon government.

“The Kluane First Nation is pleased to confirm our ongoing working relationship with the Yukon government and we look forward to exploring more sustainable growth and economic development opportunities in the Kluane First Nation Traditional Territory,” Kluane First Nation Chief Mathieya Alatini said.

The lots are scheduled to be ready for viewing in June, with a public lottery planned for late summer. Individuals interested in viewing the lots will be required to arrange their own transportation by boat.
