WHITEHORSE—In keeping with tradition, Premier Darrell Pasloski went shoe shopping today ahead of the tabling of the 2016/17 budget.
“The shoes I purchased today have a special significance,” Pasloski said. “Not only will I table the budget while wearing them tomorrow, but I am honouring a message that I sent to all Government of Yukon employees this morning – buy local.”
Premier Pasloski penned an email sent to all Yukon government employees this morning. The message in his email was simple: if something can be bought locally at a competitive price and you are making the purchase for government, buy local.
This message also supports the “Look Inside” campaign launched by the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce.
“For the chamber’s campaign to be successful, the Yukon government must be an active participant,” Pasloski added. “I have asked all government employees to be a part of this effort and to help keep our local businesses and our economy strong.”
