WHITEHORSE—The Government of Yukon will highlight Yukon’s mineral potential and investment readiness at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada annual convention in Toronto from March 6 to 9.
“Yukon has exceptional potential for future resource development and it is important that we continue to promote that potential during the current downturn,” Premier Darrell Pasloski said. “We continue to invest in our infrastructure, regulatory regime and training so that we will be well-positioned when the inevitable upturn in the resource markets occurs.”
Minister of Economic Development Stacey Hassard said: “We are pleased to promote Yukon’s mineral resources and investment opportunities. This event builds on the strong partnership between government and industry by offering an opportunity to connect with stakeholders, key companies and prospective investors.”
The convention is one of the biggest mineral and mining events in the world. Premier Pasloski, Minister Hassard and Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent will attend along with representatives from the Yukon First Nations Chamber of Commerce and the Yukon Mining Alliance.
“Along with Yukon First Nations, the Yukon Water Board and the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board, the Government of Yukon is working to achieve greater clarity in the mine licensing process—an important message for attendees at this convention,” Kent said.
The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s international convention, trade show, and investors exchange is a leading event for people involved in the mineral sector. Roughly 23,500 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries participate every year.
