Students on school trip to France return safely to Yukon

WHITEHORSE—A group of Yukon students and staff who were in France at the time of the terrorist attacks in Paris have safely returned to the territory.

“We are grateful for the safe return of our students and staff to Yukon,” Minister of Education Doug Graham said. “Our heartfelt thanks go out to the teachers and host families in France, and to our staff, who all took such good care of our students during this difficult time.”

Ten students from F.H. Collins Secondary School and two staff members were in France last week on a school trip to visit Vimy Ridge on Remembrance Day. During this trip, they stayed in Arras, France, approximately 180 km north of Paris. Although the group visited Paris on this trip, they were not in Paris at the time of the attacks.

The group landed in Vancouver on Sunday morning, and arrived in Whitehorse on a connecting flight late Sunday night.
