WHITEHORSE—Minister of Economic Development Stacey Hassard and Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent are in Calgary this week to discuss innovation in the energy sector.
“Learning more about innovative energy solutions can go a long way towards enhancing Yukon’s investment climate,” Minister Hassard said. “Along with Yukon First Nations and our local businesses partners, these discussions provide a great opportunity to promote Yukon’s resources and opportunities for investment.”
Ministers Hassard and Kent are joined by local business leaders and Yukon First Nations officials to visit a number of renewable and non-renewable energy facilities that are promoting innovation in energy generation.
“Access to reliable, clean and affordable energy is integral to the daily lives of Yukoners,” Minister Kent said. “The Yukon government is taking a proactive approach by connecting with industry leaders to explore what new technological advancements may be used in Yukon to develop and manage our energy resources.”
Members of the Yukon delegation will attend several presentations on energy innovation, take tours of relevant facilities and have an opportunity to network and discuss ideas and technological improvements with energy industry experts.
“Staying abreast of trends and innovation is of paramount importance as we seek to develop and improve our energy sectors in Yukon,” Chamber of Commerce president Peter Turner said. “Innovation is the key to addressing the challenges and generating the economic opportunities for an energy industry in Yukon.”
