A statement from Yukon’s Premier regarding telecommunications for Yukoners

WHITEHORSE—In light of today’s disruption to telecommunications in Yukon, Premier Darrell Pasloski issued the following statement on the future of telecommunications in the territory:

“All Yukoners understand the importance of telecommunications to everyday life. As your Premier, I want Yukoners to know that our government is working hard to make territory-wide telecommunications disruptions, such as the one that occurred today, a thing of the past.

When these types of disruptions occur, it affects everyone—individuals, businesses and government. That’s why our government remains committed to a new fibre optic link that will provide redundancy for Yukon’s telecommunications network. It is our goal to ensure that telecommunications services can be provided in a reliable, consistent and affordable way.

We expect to make an announcement in the coming months about a plan to achieve this goal.”
