Yukon government seeks furniture suppliers for F.H. Collins Secondary School

WHITEHORSE—The Government of Yukon is seeking suppliers of interior furniture for the new F.H. Collins Secondary School in Whitehorse.

“Work is progressing well on the new F.H. Collins Secondary,” Minister of Education Doug Graham said. “With construction nearly complete, we are turning our focus towards furnishing the school to provide a modern, comfortable learning environment for our students and teachers.”

On March 25 a Negotiated Request for Proposal (NRFP) was issued for design services and the supply and installation of furniture, which is needed for classrooms, labs, offices, the cafeteria, multi-purpose room, library and other areas. The deadline for proposals is April 30.

The Department of Education plans to issue additional RFPs for school services and equipment, including information technology, closed circuit television, telephone service, a portable stage, bleachers, gym floor covering, fitness equipment and window coverings.

“We split the procurement into a number of areas to provide more opportunities for local businesses,” Graham added. “We encourage Yukon businesses to consider responding to these opportunities on their own or by partnering with other companies.”

The Department of Education also plans to issue a number of invitational bids to local Yukon companies as part of its commitment to support local businesses.

The new F.H. Collins school will be just over 7,400 square metres in area and is designed for a population of 750 students.
