Government showcases procurement process at Yukon’s first Industry Conference

WHITEHORSE—The Yukon government’s Procurement Support Centre is hosting Yukon’s first annual Industry Conference in Whitehorse on February 17 and 18.

“The Industry Conference will give individuals and businesses a clear understanding of how the Yukon government purchases goods and services,” Minister of Highways and Public Works Scott Kent said. “This is part of an effort to make our procurement process more transparent and accessible to contractors.”

The conference will provide information about opportunities to do business with the Yukon government and about resources for contractors going through the procurement process. The Procurement Support Centre has conferred extensively with Yukon’s businesses community to make sure the conference agenda addresses its needs.

Kent, who became minister of Highways and Public Works in January, is speaking at the conference. “We are looking to better understand the perspectives of our vendor community, and want to show that community that we are a government that supports Yukon businesses,” Kent added.

The Industry Conference is followed by a workshop called How To Do Business With The Canadian Government, hosted by the federal Department of Public Works. This workshop takes place the afternoon of February 18.

The conference takes place at the Coast High Country Inn in Whitehorse and runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on February 17 and from 7:30 a.m. to noon on February 18. To register for the conference visit the Industry Conference website or call 867-667-5385.
