Six Yukoners receive bursaries to pursue health education

WHITEHORSE—Six Yukon students will receive financial support from the Yukon government to support their health-related post-secondary studies.

“We are happy that we can assist these six individuals to pursue their post-secondary education in medicine and we look forward to welcoming them back to Yukon in the future. It’s great to see so many Yukoners interested in these fields,” Minister of Health and Social Services Doug Graham said.

Medical bursaries were awarded to Dennis Parhar and Anna Schmidt. Parhar and Schmidt will each receive $10,000 per year while at medical school.

In addition, four nursing students were awarded bursaries. Jennifer Bedard, Hayley Bielz, Nancy Campbell and Rebecca Pollard will each receive $5,000 per year while in nursing at post-secondary institutions.

Since the bursary programs began in 2006, 95 students have received financial aid.
