WHITEHORSE—The Department of Justice has released documents outlining details of the new Land Titles Act and Condominium Act.
“The government is committed to ensuring Yukon’s land titles system meets the volume and complexity of today’s marketplace,” Minister of Justice Mike Nixon said. “These new bills will create a stronger legislative framework to support condominium development and more modern, client-centred registry services.”
The new legislation is a component of the Land Titles Modernization Project. The project is reviewing and updating Yukon’s land titles system in order to adopt contemporary land and property development best practices similar to other jurisdictions in Canada.
“We are very appreciative of the input gathered from stakeholders and the public to date,” Nixon added. “Legislative drafting is now in the final stages and we invite Yukoners to review the summaries of the respective bills and provide comments on the proposed provisions.”
Details of the Land Titles Modernization Project, including how the new Land Titles Act and Condominium Act were developed, are available on the Department of Justice website.
Comments received by January 31, 2015 will be considered in the final bills tabled in the Yukon Legislative Assembly this spring.
