Touring Artist Fund supports local musician’s Canadian tour

WHITEHORSE—The Touring Artist Fund is supporting Yukon-based singer/songwriter Kim Beggs to perform across Canada from January to March, 2015.

Beggs is receiving $10,000 as part of the latest intake of the Touring Artist Fund. She will perform across the country and is included as part of the Home Routes House Concert Tour in southern Alberta for 12 shows.

“The Yukon government continues to support the artistic development of our local talent well beyond our borders,” Minister of Tourism and Culture Mike Nixon said. “We are pleased to enable Yukon artists to continue to grow professionally and reach new audiences.”

Beggs will perform with a number of other musicians along the way, including former Yukoner Kim Barlow.

“I am incredibly thankful to Yukon Tourism and Culture for supporting my vision for a cross-Canada winter tour,” Beggs said. “I look forward to promoting Yukon through my music, my stories and my love of this beautiful, inspiring, isolated place.”

The Touring Artist Fund supports literary, visual and performing artists, ensembles and companies. Artists are funded to present their work at professionally curated exhibitions, concerts, festivals and showcases. There are four application deadlines, occurring on the 15th of: March, June, September and December.
