Yukon Lottery Commission supports 15 community-based organizations

WHITEHORSE—Fifteen art, sport and recreation organizations are sharing almost $123,000 in funding from the Yukon Lottery Commission’s Recreational Projects Program.

“I thank the commission for their continued support of organizations that contribute so much to the quality of life in our communities,” minister responsible for the Yukon Lottery Commission Brad Cathers said.

The Recreational Projects Program provides funding assistance to sustain and contribute to the growth of amateur level sports, physical fitness and recreation activities and the performing, visual and literary arts.

The Yukon Freestyle Ski Association is one of the recipients. “We are absolutely thrilled with the Commission’s approval of our summer ramp project,” association president Lynda Harlow said. “This will revolutionize our training facility and provide year-round training in Yukon for freestyle athletes, rather than having to travel elsewhere during the off-season or summer months. We can hardly wait to get this project started!”

The Recreational Projects Program supports these initiatives for the benefit and enjoyment of all Yukoners. Program application intake deadlines are April 15 and October 15.
