Yukon’s mineral sector highlighted at Invest Yukon Pavilion

WHITEHORSE—Yukon’s mineral industry is being promoted at the world’s largest investment conference dedicated to resource exploration. The Cambridge House’s Vancouver Resource Investment Conference 2014 is taking place January 19 to 20.

“Yukon’s mineral sector has been a cornerstone of our economy for more than a century,” Minister of Economic Development Currie Dixon said. “Our infrastructure, political stability and geological endowment all bode well for a strong economic future for this sector and for Yukon. The Invest Yukon Pavilion expands our efforts to attract investors so industry can access the mineral resources that will continue to support development, expansion and employment in the territory.”

The pavilion is a partnership between the Department of Economic Development and Yukon Mining Alliance. It will provide the territory’s leading exploration, development and mining companies with a prime position at the conference where they can present their latest project information to institutional and retail investors, conference delegates and media. In addition, on-site participation from Air North, Northern Vision Development and Yukon Energy Corporation will help investors understand Yukon is a well-connected, modern and business-ready jurisdiction.

“Yukon Mining Alliance was formed in 2009 and we have been very successful promoting our member companies and Yukon to investors around the world,” Alliance chair John McConnell said. “We are pleased to partner with the Government of Yukon in capital investment attraction activities that will advance Yukon’s minerals sector and a strong economy.”

Current members of Yukon Mining Alliance include Alexco Resource Corporation, Kaminak Gold Corporation, Northern Freegold Resources Ltd., Wellgreen Platinum Ltd., Western Copper and Gold Corporation, and Victoria Gold Corporation.

Profiled companies at the conference will receive premium exposure with booths in a section of the trade show called the Klondike Trail. These will include Kaminak Gold, Wellgreen Platinum, Western Copper and Gold, Victoria Gold, First Point Minerals, ATAC Resources, Strategic Metals, Silver Range Resources and Rockhaven Resources.

Minister of Economic Development Currie Dixon will open the pavilion at 10 a.m. on January 19 and Premier Darrell Pasloski will welcome guests to the Invest Yukon Reception at 3:30 p.m.

Yukon Mining Alliance undertakes a range of initiatives to attract capital investment by North American, European and Asian financial markets. The Department of Economic Development and Yukon Mining Alliance regularly collaborate to bring investor attention to opportunities in Yukon’s mining sector.
