Commissioner launches the second annual youth showcase concert

WHITEHORSE—Commissioner of Yukon Doug Phillips officially launches the second annual Commissioner’s Youth Showcase Concert this evening, featuring talented Yukon musicians and artists.

“The Commissioner’s Youth Showcase helps raise the profile of young artists through public performance and display opportunities,” Phillips said. “I am happy to showcase talented young Yukoners as an important part of the commitment to youth that I chose to focus on during my term.”

The Commissioner’s Youth Showcase is a program designed to highlight young artists and musicians by giving them an opportunity to perform or have their artwork displayed at commissioner’s events throughout the year.

Artists who perform at an event receive a framed certificate recognizing their achievement as well as either a gift certificate or donation. The artists are chosen twice a year, for winter and summer events, by an advisory panel.

The Commissioner’s Second Annual Youth Showcase Concert is at the Old Fire Hall on November 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
