Special presenter in Whitehorse for Diabetes Awareness Month

WHITEHORSE—Diabetes nurse educator and family therapist Joe Solowiejczyk will give a free public presentation in Whitehorse this Friday on living with Types I and II diabetes.

“Diabetes is a growing concern all around the world,” Minister of Health and Social Services Doug Graham said. “Mr. Solowiejczyk is a well-respected diabetes educator. One important topic he will address is how family dynamics affects diabetes management and control.”

Solowiejczyk is a dynamic speaker and advocate of understanding the role of family in controlling diabetes, and how relationships can affect blood sugar control in diabetes.
“I’m looking forward to coming to Whitehorse,” said Solowiejczyk. “As a long-time diabetic, I feel strongly about improving quality of life and the individual’s ability to cope with the daily challenges of living with diabetes. Family communication is vital and I hope to provide tips for diabetics and their families.”

Solowiejczyk will give talks to health care professionals earlier in the day. The free public presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 15, at the High Country Inn.
