Housing corporation seeks interested parties to provide staff housing

WHITEHORSE—An Expression of Interest has been issued by the Yukon Housing Corporation to identify parties who may be interested in providing staff housing services in Dawson City.

“Following on the principle that it takes a community to effectively address housing needs, we want to have a better idea as to whom may be interested in providing staff housing in Dawson City,” Minister responsible for the Housing Corporation Scott Kent said. “The corporation will be examining all options to address both staff and social housing services in communities.”

The Yukon Housing Corporation (YHC) administers the Government of Yukon’s rural staff housing program. This program assists in recruiting and retaining staff to deliver government programs and services in rural Yukon communities.

The purpose of the Expression of Interest call is to gauge the level of interest Yukon First Nations, businesses, individuals and organizations may have in providing these staff housing services. YHC representatives have held discussions with Dawson City groups to better understand the scope of the community’s housing needs and what potential solutions might exist. This is not a call for proposals; it is only a request to identify who may be interested in providing these services.

The Expression of Interest is posted on the corporation’s website:
