WHITEHORSE—The Government of Yukon’s new Yukon Mining and Lands Viewers are now available online, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Brad Cathers announced today.
The previous Yukon Mining and Land Map Viewer was an online application that allowed users to search for registered mineral and land rights throughout Yukon. The two new viewers feature better search functions for mineral and land rights in Yukon and provide a better user experience with modern software, better functionality and additional information.
“Energy, Mines and Resources continues to enhance and improve our services in Yukon,” Cathers said. “By modernizing our Yukon Mining and Land Map viewers, the government is making more information easily available to the public in a user-friendly format. The new features include enhanced imagery, additional labels, new data and modern software.”
The new software is easier to navigate and compatible with current web applications, such as Google Maps. Users can also utilize Google Earth compatibility to view on-the-ground images. As well, the new map viewers implement feedback from the public, such as including wildlife area maps and highway and road maps. These additions create a better resource for clients researching Yukon government records.
“The new viewers will provide a better experience for people using the website,” Cathers added. “They are a further example of Yukon government’s commitment to providing the best services available.”
