WHITEHORSE—Premier Darrell Pasloski announced today that Joe MacGillivray will be appointed as the new cabinet secretary and deputy minister of the Executive Council Office, effective this summer.

“Mr. MacGillivray has held several senior-level public service positions in Yukon,” Pasloski said. “He is a long-time Yukoner who has earned the respect of the community. His extensive experience, knowledge and skills will serve him well in this high-profile position.”

Since 2007 MacGillivray has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Yukon Hospital Corporation. Prior to that, he held a number of senior positions with the Government of Yukon, including as an assistant deputy minister with Energy, Mines and Resources.

MacGillivray holds a bachelor’s degree in arts from Queen’s University as well as a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Alaska.

He succeeds Janet Moodie, who is retiring at the end of April, after serving as the deputy minister of Executive Council Office since 2003. She began her distinguished career with the Yukon government more than 25 years ago and has held a variety of positions.

Pasloski thanked Moodie for her dedication to the public service. “Ms. Moodie has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to excellence throughout her career,” Pasloski said. “We wish her the very best in her retirement.”
