Premier builds Yukon-Alaska relations

WHITEHORSE—Premier Darrell Pasloski heads to Juneau, Alaska tomorrow to discuss issues of mutual interest with Governor Sean Parnell.

“The Government of Yukon is committed to continuing positive and productive working relationships with the Government of Alaska,” Pasloski said. “This meeting will mark the beginning of the renewal of the Yukon-Alaska Intergovernmental Accord which expires this year.”

The accord provides the framework for the Yukon and Alaskan governments to work co-operatively in areas such as tourism, transportation, resource development, management of caribou herds and issues of international importance.

“Yukon and Alaska are among the strongest performing jurisdictions in North America, and both have a very positive economic outlook,” Pasloski added. “It is mutually beneficial for us to continue to collaborate and build on our collective strengths, and I look forward to working with Governor Parnell to this end.”

This is Premier Pasloski’s first meeting with Governor Parnell.
