Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Yukon partner on residential land development

WHITEHORSE—Premier Darrell Pasloski and Kwanlin Dün Chief Rick O’Brien recently signed a Letter of Understanding that will enable Yukon and the First Nation to work together on potential residential land opportunities on Kwanlin Dün Settlement Land.

“The Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Yukon share a common goal in supporting the sustainable growth and development of Yukon communities,” Pasloski said. “Both governments recognize the need for affordable housing and the demand for developed residential land within the City of Whitehorse and the surrounding areas.”

“The Kwanlin Dün First Nation has substantial Settlement Land holdings in the Whitehorse area,” Kwanlin Dün Chief Rick O’Brien said. “Exploring residential opportunities on these lands will increase residential land and housing availability to the public while providing economic benefits to the Kwanlin Dün First Nation for generations to come.”

The Letter of Understanding outlines how both parties will work together to share expertise, resources and ideas to explore residential market opportunities.
