Whistle Bend pump station tender awarded

WHITEHORSE—Graham Construction and Engineering of Delta, British Columbia has been awarded a contract to install a wastewater pump station in the Whistle Bend Subdivision.

“The Yukon government has heard Yukoners’ demand for housing and is helping to meet these needs with projects such as Whistle Bend,” Community Services Minister Archie Lang said.

The tender period for construction of the pump station closed on May 12. The successful low bid is valued at $4,488,000. Work is expected to commence in June, and will be completed by July 15, 2012.

The development of the Whistle Bend Subdivision is well underway. When completed, Whistle Bend will accommodate upwards of 8,000 residents in nearly 3,900 housing units. Land lotteries for the first lots are tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2012.
